Sofia Ribeiro “Mar Sonoro” (2016)

Mar sonoro CD cover

“Mar Sonoro” (Sofia Ribeiro, lyrics by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen) The title song of the album, and one of my personal favorites. Sofia wrote a melody for the original poem of the Portuguese writer Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, and I arranged it for string orchestra plus piano, bass and percussion.

“Bom Dia” (Sofia Ribeiro) A song based on the Brazilian rhythm of Maracatú, in which Sofia describes a very particular character who goes around saying hello to everyone.

“Tela” (Sofia Ribeiro) A great song by Sofia, with an incredible solo in the end by the virtuoso flute player from Israel Itai Kriss!

“Ultima Danza” (Sofia Ribeiro) A jazzy original ballad with an amazing vocal trombone solo by Sofia.

“O gente da minha terra” (Amália Rorigues, Tiago Machado) A live fado we performed in duo with Sofia.
